I thought it was the best love ever

Now that it’s over
It turns out it was just a puppy crush
I thought this would last until the end of time
But I was clearly out of my mind

You never think what you have will go away
At least you don’t yesterday
But looking back, you see the flaws
That you could never see
When the love was hitting you so heavily

It may be a trick of the mind

That made me ever think that you could be mine
And we could share our lives
But apparently this wrong never became right

I’m all alone tonight

Left to ponder the reason
Why this love never came to be
Why I thought you loved me

I thought it was the best love ever
