Post 200: Newlywed (4/10/10): The Bicentennial Post

Newlywed (1/6/10 c, 4/10/10 w)

I never thought, never thought I would see this day
I tried so hard not to cry when your father gave you
Gave you away

Gazing upon your visage
As I tried to get the words out
The words I’ve waited my whole life to say

I’m a newlywed
Staring down at the marital bed
Waiting for the magic to begin
You’ve got my heart in your hands
I’ve never felt so good
Because I know you are my dream come true
And I fall again whenever I look at you
Newlywed

The reception is over
So much I had to do
I’m trying not to collapse from the emotional strain

But I know you’ll wait because we’ve got the rest of our lives
To make, to make everything right

There is one thing, one thing left for me to do
I want to make, make love to you
For the first time tonight
You are the only one for me for the rest of my life

I’m a newlywed
Staring down at the marital bed
Waiting for the magic to begin
You’ve got my heart in your hands
I’ve never felt so good
Because I know you are my dream come true
And I fall again whenever I look at you
Newlywed

So much we have left in our lives
So much time
So much we have left to do
But I know no matter what life throws my way
I can handle, because I’m loved by you

You give me strength I could never find alone
Here is the key, welcome to our new home

I’m a newlywed
Staring down at the marital bed
Waiting for the magic to begin
You’ve got my heart in your hands
I’ve never felt so good
Because I know you are my dream come true
And I fall again whenever I look at you
Newlywed
