Post 208: Can't Finish What You Start (7/21/09)

Can’t Finish What You Start (7/20/09 c, 7/21/09 w)

You tell me “babe here is my heart”
Then you take it away
You tell me that you want me inside
Inside of you in more than one way
Then you tell me, not tonight no way

You can’t finish what you start
It seems like punishment for a sin
The sin of trying to make our love become something more
You tell me you’re ready, that you’re ready to fall
Ready to give me your all
Then you run away
You can’t finish what you start

You tell me all your hopes and your dreams
Then you tell me that you want to share them with me
But whenever I try to make things more defined
You tell me a thousand lies

You can’t finish what you start
It seems like punishment for a sin
The sin of trying to make our love become something more
You tell me you’re ready, that you’re ready to fall
Ready to give me your all
Then you run away
You can’t finish what you start

When I ask if we could ever share our lives
You say “I can’t wait for the day”
Here I am picturing a ring and one knee
Picturing someday you saying yes to me
But I have to stop myself from possibly making that mistake
Cos maybe I will never see that day
And completely giving my heart to you is something that I can’t undo

You can’t finish what you start
It seems like punishment for a sin
The sin of trying to make our love become something more
You tell me you’re ready, that you’re ready to fall
Ready to give me your all
Then you run away
You can’t finish what you start
