Post 542: Snowman (3/29/10)

Snowman (11/29/09 c, 3/29/10 w)

It’s the first snow of the year
Inside I pull you near and whisper the words I think you want to hear
But there is a part of me, a part of me that longs for younger days
Days where I didn’t care that I didn’t have a plan
Because there was no real reason to

I want to go outside
And make a snowball five feet high
Maybe you can help me
Help me make a snowman
You can make the head and find the eyes and arms
I’ll even let you chose the name
And if it is off center, I guess you have someone to blame
I want to make a snowman

Maybe it is true I’m just a grown up kid
But I still long to be outside
On the days with plenty of snow on the ground
And I want to do what kids are supposed to do
Soaking through my gloves, freezing my hands
Maybe we could make a snow me and a snow you

I want to go outside
And make a snowball five feet high
Maybe you can help me
Help me make a snowman
You can make the head and find the eyes and arms
I’ll even let you chose the name
And if it is off center, I guess you have someone to blame
I want to make a snowman

There is no need to always be serious
Sometimes you have to let the kid inside play
To release the grown up stress
Can you pass my test

Because in time the snow always melts away
And you’re left with the memories
The memories of your fading youth
But there is one constant you can always count
I will be here by your side for the rest of my life

I want to go outside
And make a snowball five feet high
Maybe you can help me
Help me make a snowman
You can make the head and find the eyes and arms
I’ll even let you chose the name
And if it is off center, I guess you have someone to blame
I want to make a snowman
