Post 539: Christmas Lights (3/28/10)

Christmas Lights (11/29/09, 3/28/10 w)

In the faint glow of 1,000 bulbs
I turn to you dimly lit
And think to myself, is she ready yet

Is she ready to be, ready to be everything I need
I know it seems a little selfish
But I want to be the only one she needs too
But I don’t know if mister right is me

The mood is set
I see you lick your lips to make them wet
And I see something, something in your eyes
I’ve never see before

Christmas lights cast colored shadows on my wall
They are showing me things I might have missed before
Like the look in your eyes
The look that no longer makes me question why, question why
The dots of red and blue on your face
Scramble your, scramble your disguise
Now I can see the real you, you can see the real me
In Christmas lights

We’ve turned off the switch
Now all we have is Christmas light illumination
Alone in the room, sitting on the floor
Looking at the tree briefly
Then losing ourselves, losing ourselves in each other’s eyes

Going to a place where we know everything
And there is nothing to hide
Looking deep into each other’s soul
And finding an eternal connection
Wanting to be, to be each other’s everything
Until the end, until the end of time

Christmas lights cast colored shadows on my wall
They are showing me things I might have missed before
Like the look in your eyes
The look that no longer makes me question why, question why
The dots of red and blue on your face
Scramble your, scramble your disguise
Now I can see the real you, you can see the real me
In Christmas lights

I’ve never been here
If I had one I would give you my ring tonight
But we both know that we can’t escape

Because we’ve already committed
We’ve already decided to share our lives
And I’ll always remember that first night
The first night we spent under Christmas lights
