Post 366: The Towel Has Been Thrown (4/13/10)

The Towel Has Been Thrown (1/27/10 c, 4/13/10 w)

Standing in the ring taken a beating
I can no longer see, see any good
In the world, the world in front of me
Life keeps on landing devastating blows
Turning all the things I know
To be true into lies

The towel has been thrown
Life has beaten me, bloodied my face
Become a nightmare, a nightmare I can’t escape
There is nothing I can do to change my plight
Whatever I do the winner is always life
The towel has been thrown

Maybe I should pretend that I can win
Just keep holding on
But like a treadmill, I never advance
Always coming face to face
From a horror, a fate, that I can never escape

I can’t get up, I’ve had enough
But the barrage is relentless
Never letting up
Blow after blow shattering my dreams
And destroying what little remains of my self-esteem
Leaving a beaten man, a beaten man

The towel has been thrown
Life has beaten me, bloodied my face
Become a nightmare, a nightmare I can’t escape
There is nothing I can do to change my plight
Whatever I do the winner is always life
The towel has been thrown
