Post 359: Tears on Your Pillow (4/11/10)

Tears on Your Pillow (1/27/10 c, 4/11/10 w)

You told yourself that she was your life
Now you are all alone tonight
And it feels like you will be the rest of your life

Hold on, they say – it gets easier each day
But when you’re falling out of love that isn’t true

Tears on your pillow
That still haven’t dried
Flowing from your eyes
Like a boat against an outgoing tide
Trying to believe that it will get better
Though you can’t feel it
Tears on your pillow
Haven’t dried yet

Get back in the saddle seems like sage advice
If you hadn’t just lost, lost your life
When she walked out that door

It gets better, but you’re still not sure
That you are up for it tonight
Or if you should go on living
Living alone

Tears on your pillow
That still haven’t dried
Flowing from your eyes
Like a boat against an outgoing tide
Trying to believe that it will get better
Though you can’t feel it
Tears on your pillow
Haven’t dried yet

Memories that you shared
Keep playing with your mind
You start making bargains that you will never see
I know it is hard

Because I’ve been there, been there myself
And the memories still haunt, haunt me

Tears on your pillow
That still haven’t dried
Flowing from your eyes
Like a boat against an outgoing tide
Trying to believe that it will get better
Though you can’t feel it yet
Tears on your pillow
Haven’t dried yet
