Post 506: Halloween (3/18/10)

Halloween (10/26/09, 3/18/10 w)

One of my favorite days of the year
When magical beings can reappear
And nothing is what it seems
As everyone wears their disguise
For once wearing what they keep hidden
On the outside

It's Halloween
Carve the pumpkins; put the tombstones on the lawn
It’s one day of the year where you can be anything
Anything you want to be
And it is not looked down on by society
You can be the real you
Let your faults and insecurities shine through
It’s Halloween

Parades of ghosts and goblins roam the street
Knocking on doors
Tricking or treats
Throwing away the fear for only one night
While in the houses the adults
Let their spirits take flight
Recalling younger days, without all the obstacles in the way

It's Halloween
Carve the pumpkins; put the tombstones on the lawn
It’s one day of the year where you can be anything
Anything you want to be
And it is not looked down on by society
You can be the real you
Let your faults and insecurities shine through
It’s Halloween

Taking a chance, because tomorrow will revert to the same
Hiding behind the lies every other day
Taking chances, because you are who you want to be
Acting out of character with all of your flaws
The one day of the year nobody thinks you are truly odd

It's Halloween
Carve the pumpkins; put the tombstones on the lawn
It’s one day of the year where you can be anything
Anything you want to be
And it is not looked down on by society
You can be the real you
Let your faults and insecurities shine through
It’s Halloween
