Post 637: Blank Slate (3/6/10)

Blank Slate (9/15/09 c, 3/6/10 w)

Here we are
Starting over after all of this time
Trying to forget out past interactions
Trying to forget the pain
I used to hear whenever I heard your name

We’ve got a
Blank slate
The past has been wiped clean
It doesn’t mean anything
Because it is all about now
You and me
Not what we used to be
But the future in front of us
Starting over
Blank slate

Honestly, I can’t tell you how surprised
How surprised I could be
That somehow fate reconnected you and me
After all of this time
Let’s take it one day at a time
Because we have the rest of our lives
To see where this leads

We’ve got a
Blank slate
The past has been wiped clean
It doesn’t mean anything
Because it is all about now
You and me
Not what we used to be
But the future in front of us
Starting over
Blank slate

The hurt has faded
Now I am elated to see you again
And filling in the blanks
I never really knew you as much as I should
But I know you’re a slightly different person
And everything I’m learning about you
Feels like something I’ve always known

We’ve got a
Blank slate
The past has been wiped clean
It doesn’t mean anything
Because it is all about now
You and me
Not what we used to be
But the future in front of us
Starting over
Blank slate

Maybe we met too young
Because it has taken all these years
For us to really be, really be together
And I know it’s strange but even then
I’ve never, I’ve never felt so strong about you
As I now do
