Post 632: Exorcising You (2/11/10)

Exorcising You (9/15/09 c, 2/11/10 w)

I thrown your letters in my fireplace
In my mind there are memories I’m trying to replace
I’m convincing myself that everything about you
Everything about you was untrue

Exorcising you
Trying to forget what I thought was magic
Burning every picture of you
Because I don’t want to see your face
Or remember anything about you
It’s harder than I thought forgetting you
Trying to believe my lies
To save my mind
I have to exorcise you

The words that you said
I want to replace
But it’s harder to do than to forget your face
I never thought I would have to forget you
But if I remember, it will be too hard to go on
So I have to, I have to be

Exorcising you
Trying to forget what I thought was magic
Burning every picture of you
Because I don’t want to see your face
Or remember anything about you
It’s harder than I thought forgetting you
Trying to believe my lies
To save my mind
I have to exorcise you

Trying not to cry
Those are not tears running from my eyes
They are the memories of you melting from my mind
After I am through, I’m sure that I won’t remember
I won’t remember you

Exorcising you
Trying to forget what I thought was magic
Burning every picture of you
Because I don’t want to see your face
Or remember anything about you
It’s harder than I thought forgetting you
Trying to believe my lies
To save my mind
I have to exorcise you
