Post 426: Slug Song (4/13/10)

Slug Song (1/27/10 c, 4/13/10 w)

Slithering, leaving a trail behind me
Looking for something, something green to eat
There is a nice leaf
My two eyes protruding like a gastropod
Maybe I’m kind of odd

You build your fences to keep me out
But here I come, here I come again
Into your garden (or is it your heart again)
Because this is where I feel I belong

Lettuce calling to me
You’ve got salt and you’re chasing after, chasing after me
I can’t move fast, but you wouldn’t know what would last
If anyone told you, even a tattoo on your face

Why do you try to destroy, destroy what you don’t know
Do you really, really not know
Know my purpose in your life
Maybe someday you’ll realize it
Maybe tonight

Now the day is through and I’m on my way back home
Where do slug spend the night any, anyway
Tomorrow brings, brings us another, another day

To be who we are
For you to find out what it is you truly need
You may believe that I’m beneath your feet
A pest you want to leave
Maybe this “pest” is the one you truly, truly need
