Post 26: Halcyon Wave (3/13/10)

Halcyon Wave (3/13/10 c, w)

Looking to the future with so much doubt
Living in a present where nothing has worked out
It is easy to go back in time in your mind
To when everything was so new
And you could be, be anything

Hit by a halcyon wave
Taking you back, back in time
To when your life was still unwritten
Everything seemed better, and the past has now been forgiven
The music talked to you and movies were actually new
Where everything seemed so simple
Halcyon wave
Halcyon wave wash away today

Everything seems so contrived
And everyone you meet will lie to you
While looking you in the eyes
Nobody told you the world would be like this
Can’t we just go back, back to when we were kids

Hit by a halcyon wave
Taking you back, back in time
To when your life was still unwritten
Everything seemed better, and the past has now been forgiven
The music talked to you and movies were actually new
Where everything seemed so simple
Halcyon wave
Halcyon wave wash away today

Nothing seems fair in the present tense
Where are the dreams you held on to
In your youth
When you knew you could take on the world and win
In the ocean you could swim
You’ve been treading water for so long; you used to be so strong
Now you’re drowning

Hit by a halcyon wave
Taking you back, back in time
To when your life was still unwritten
Everything seemed better, and the past has now been forgiven
The music talked to you and movies were actually new
Where everything seemed so simple
Halcyon wave
Halcyon wave wash away today
